This is one of the best saws for the price. It works as good as any others I’ve used and it’s handy because the batteries will also fit into my De Walt 14.4 drill. The only complaint is that the De Walt batteries don’t fit in the saw very well, and come out really hard once you get them in. The quick attatch for the blades is nice also. Again, you can’t beat it for the price.

I bought this saw on ebay for the same price that I could have bought the battery for. I think it is wimpy for any real work other that cutting an occasional pvc pipe or a two by four. It is sure handy to grab this saw and go, instead of running cords and finding the nearest plug. New ones on ebay run less than half of this price

like the compact weight but the battery even though rated 14.4 volts lasts less than 10 minutes of normal use, had to special order to get replacement batteries, would strongly suggest a better quality tool (de walt etc.) for other than a hobby user

I recieved this chainsaw as a gift. My father made fun of it..said it looked like a toy. This chainsaw proved him wrong. I trimmed off several large tree branches and also cut down a medium sized pine tree with this mighty little chainsaw. My only complaint is that the battery does not last as long as I would like. After several weekends of tree pruning the chain is dull but not unexpected after the amount of use. I do recommend this product.

Handy for trimming when shears are not quite enough – J. F. Stafura – Pittsburgh, PA United States
While one could use a pair of shears to cut most of the things that I use this electric chainsaw for it wouldn’t be a fast or easy.
There are some branches that this can cut that would require a swedish saw or a smaller gas saw, and the fact that there is no gas to mess with and that it is ready to use in no time is great. Since there is no gas involved finding place to store it is easier also.

I’ve had my saw for several years. I use it for small (say, “tiny”) jobs around the garage. I use 1/4″ wood for lots of little things… they’re free in the form of paint-stir boards. The Handisaw is perfect for working with this type of wood (soft). I also use it for dowels and trim but have used it for 1×2’s also. I like the fact that it uses standard (and cheap) sabre saw blades and it’s so easy to change from one to another. I read about certain “fixes” in some of the other comments and I decided to do them. Only took a few minutes. Decided to share with you….
Visibility. Just use a pair of “dykes” to cut out one piece of plastic on each side of the front guard. Visibility problem solved.
Safety Button. Up to you, but it bugged me so I fixed it. I held the button back and put a washer into the slot (you have to see it to know this is simple). The button now stays in the “released” position. Now I have to be a bit more careful with it to keep from accidentally pressing the trigger. But I vow to be careful.
That’s it. Except that I just found a “deal” for more of these for and am headed out to get some of these for gifts. Btw, I paid for mine when they were on closeout at the B&D Outlet store (now closed). For , I’ll have a spare and give away a nice gift too.

This is a must-have jigsaw to add to anyone’s workshop. It cuts right through plywood and trims doors with ease. The convenience of no cords is a huge plus. I bought mine last summer and I love it. I have several 18V Black & Decker tools (including lawn care tools), and it’s so cool not to need a different battery for each tool. You need to be aware that this tool does NOT come with a battery or charger. Those items are sold separately and can be purchased at most hardware stores and home improvement centers. If you already have batteries from owning other Black & Decker/Firestorm tools, then getting this saw is a no-brainer to add to your workshop. If I had to do it over again, I’d still buy Black & Decker and Firestorm.

Probably was a great product. I sure wanted one.
Unfortunately, Black and Decker has discontinued the entire Firestorm product line. And, they didn’t tell anyone, so the product is still on their website and Amazon and lots of other retailers. So don’t wait for them to restock here or anywhere.
